Testimonials
“This is a truly incredible retreat experience! I first attended a wilderness meditation retreat with Justin in 2019, only about one year into my personal meditation practice. Being in nature, sleeping outdoors, walking, hiking, eating and swimming mindfully were all experiences that opened my heart to my inner truth, and impacted me greatly. One of Justin's core beliefs is that Nature is our greatest teacher, and he has done a thoughtful job of making nature accessible to all. The site selection and layout, the incredible food and talented cook, the kindness and compassion he offers as a teacher, and the ways he makes the retreat financially accessible to those who need assistance, are all remarkable. I then participated (Aug 2023) in my second retreat with Nature's Heart, something that had been calling to me to return since I first sat in the National Forests of Oregon in 2019. This is a setup that could not be more authentic and loving. I HIGHLY recommend participating in a retreat or day of mindfulness with Justin and the Nature's Heart team if at all possible. Also, I live in Seattle, and yes, it is worth the drive!!”

“This was my first true retreat, and my first experience with insight meditation. I'm super glad I chose this one! The site was beautiful and was the right balance of isolated and accessible. The food was great. I was worried my food allergies would limit how much of it I'd be able to eat, but there were always options for me and every meal was delicious and varied. The timing and order of the schedule felt very thoughtfully planned as we alternated between sitting practice, yoga/movement, dharma talks, going out in the woods, etc. I've read a lot about self-compassion and understand the concept, but it never really clicked for me in practice. Justin's approach and teaching style made it really accessible for me and so much of how he presented stuff was really eye-opening for me. I feel profoundly different than when I went in. I also want to mention that this retreat was comfortable, safe, and affirming for me as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Justin and his crew do an amazing job and I can't wait to return for more!”
